It's finally up! Our blog is going! We're excited to finally be posting here because it means that we've finally figured it out and that our departure date is that much closer. Still no actual tickets, but we expect to leave on November 1st (El Dia de los Muertos). We are both greatly anticipating our arrival in Mexico, but know that good-byes here will be difficult. Know that we are thinking of our family, friends, and supporters during this time.
Following is the letter we wrote as our first official correspondence as ELCA long-term mission personnel. Some of you should receive it in the mail within the next few weeks, along with some information from ELCA Global Mission about supporting us in this work. We didn't, however, have everyone's address, so if you'd like us to include you in the official sponsor list, just let us know. You can also check back here for sponsorship information. Thanks in advance for all your support, in whatever form it may take!

Ummm...am I the first to post a comment? I feel special. I am so excited for you all and hope the journey starts off well. This first blog post sounds kinda familiar and reminds me of the feelings and excitement that went into our journey to Guatemala.
We cannot wait to come see you in March or April...if that´s still okay. Keep us updated on how things are going with you all. Best wishes and we´ll be in prayer for you both.
Peace!
Hi, Andrea!
Congrats on your new gig! I'd be a little leery of traveling on the Day of the Dead though (ooh, a chance to use all that Spanish I took in school!).
Good luck down there, although you probably won't need it. It seems like the job is a great fit for you.
Oh, and welcome to the world of blogging!
Andrea and Luke - CONGRATS on being able to live your dream early as we all know that some never get that chance. This is SO wonderful and we wish you nothing but the best. Sure hope if you are ever North of the border that you stop and visit your pals at HSLC. Happy travels and God be with you both, always. Kimm, Marc and Sam Maznaritz :-)
Hi, Andrea!
Very happy that you and Luke are nearly embarking on the first part of what I'm sure will prove to be an amazing spiritual journey!
I have to tell you, Andrea, that while we ALL wanted you to remain within our fold at Holy Shepherd, it was also fairly obvious that your path was destined for a more worldly impact. The gifts you have within such a young soul far exceed what any spiritual leader would typically hold within their grasp. Imagine sharing those gifts with us...and now the world. It seems to me that although we would LOVE to keep you to ourselves as we loved you that much, it would also be selfish and keeping you from your actual and intended spiritual life God intended for you. Pretty amazing stuff when you think about it, no? Should be quite the ride!
I am very happy you figured out this blog thing. It frustrated the bageebees out of me, so I forgot I even had an account. But it will be nice to keep in touch and be a reader's eye into your life.
Much love & God's blessings to you both,
Wendy
